Recently, Todd Howard, director and executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios, stated that “it’s good to think of Elder Scrolls 6 as still in a design phase.” The Elder Scrolls VI was announced at E3 2018 and, with this said, it may be a while before we see the release of the game.
Bethesda plans to release their other upcoming action role-playing game, Starfield, next year. It was dubbed “Skyrim in space” by Howard. This will be their first game to bring their latest game engine to the public. Howard told The Telegraph that “the technology, Creation Engine 2, is sort of built for both [games]. It’s like a new tech base. The vast majority of our development work is on Starfield right now but everybody works on everything so the projects kind of intertwine.”
The current console generation is a big leap from the last. “These new systems are optimized for the vast worlds we love to create, with generational leaps not just in graphics, but CPU and data streaming as well,” said Howard. This has led Bethesda to make the biggest engine changes since The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
We are excited to see what Bethesda will produce with these new games. Many of the previous Bethesda games came out buggy, but they were outstandingly expandable and customizable with mods. An immensely improved engine and gaming experience will open up endless possibilities for gamers to explore new adventures with.
