Xbox One Users Banned for Excessive Profanity

Many Xbox One users had received a ban that restricted some of their Xbox Live privileges last weekend due to excessive profanity. A message stating “choose something else to play because of [their] past behavior” displayed when those users tried to open applications such as Skype and Upload Studio, and this lead them to speculate that Microsoft has monitored their private Skype calls.

Today, Microsoft has confirmed in a statement that they have not monitored private Skype calls, but they do moderate content uploaded using Upload Studio. They also stated that “excessive profanity as well as other Code of Conduct violations will be enforced upon and result in suspension of some or all privileges on Xbox Live” and that they “want a clean, safe, and fun environment for all users.”

Do you think that it is right for Microsoft to ban users who use foul language?
